How To Link Adhaar Card With PAN Card
There are two ways to link your Aadhaar card with your PAN card: online and offline. Here’s a step-by-step guide for both methods:
Online Linking:
- Visit the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal: https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.
- Under the ‘Quick Links’ section, click on Link Aadhaar.
For users without an account:
- Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number.
- Click on Validate.
- Enter your name as per your Aadhaar card and your registered mobile number.
- Click on Link Aadhaar.
- An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your mobile number. Enter the OTP and click on Validate.
- You’ll receive a confirmation message if your Aadhaar and PAN are successfully linked.
For registered users:
- Login to the e-filing portal using your credentials.
- On the dashboard, under the ‘Profile Settings’ or ‘Link Aadhaar’ section, click on Link Aadhaar.
- The steps from here are the same as mentioned above (entering Aadhaar details, OTP verification).
Offline Linking:
- Visit a PAN service provider like NSDL
- Obtain an Annexure-I form from the service provider.
- Fill out the form carefully, ensuring all details match your PAN card and Aadhaar card.
- Attach copies of your PAN card and Aadhaar card with the form.
- Submit the completed form along with any required documents to the service provider.
- Processing time for offline linking may take longer than online linking.
Important points to remember:
- Ensure your name, date of birth, and gender are exactly the same in both your Aadhaar and PAN card.
- Have your 12-digit Aadhaar number and your registered mobile number handy.
- You may need to pay a penalty for linking Aadhaar with PAN after the deadline (if applicable).
- Keep the acknowledgement slip for successful linking for your records.
